Three carved hardstone Netsukes, 2 birds and 1 fly. The birds have a hole drilled through their head and coming out the bottom to be used as Netsukes. The fly has two holes drilled near its head. It may be used as Netsuke or as a pendant. The fly measures 1 3/4 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide by 3/8 inch high. The birds measure 1 1/8 inches high, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 inch deep. Beautiful antique carved alabaster sculpture artist signed M.A. Maffei. This artist is listed as an Italian sculptor working in the early 1900's. The sculpture depicts a beautiful sculptured Putto sitting on a rock work base, One hand holds the fountain. The fountain head is a half man/half wolf mythological face that has water flowing from its mouth. The Putto is washing his foot in the water. The sculpture can be adapted to be used as a lamp. The fountain has a hole drilled thru the center, and the column to the right of the Putto is removable making it easy for adaption to lighting. Weight 20 lbs. The sculpture measures 16-1/2 inches high, and 7-3/4 inches widest width. The Putto by itself measures 11 inches from the bottom of the foot to the top of its head. Beautiful antique sculptured wax high relief images of religious subjects. There are 6 angels, Christ with a crown, the Virgin Mary, God, and a flying bird at the top. The relief comes out more than 1/2 inch in some areas. High relief wax sculptures are almost impossible to find at any price. This is the largest we have seen, a must for any religious art collectors. Image size 13-1/2 inches wide by 18 inches high. Framed size 16-1/2 inches wide by 21 inches high.
