Three carved hardstone Netsukes, 2 birds and 1 fly. The birds have a hole drilled through their head and coming out the bottom to be used as Netsukes. The fly has two holes drilled near its head. It may be used as Netsuke or as a pendant. The fly measures 1 3/4 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide by 3/8 inch high. The birds measure 1 1/8 inches high, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 inch deep. Beautiful antique carved alabaster sculpture artist signed M.A. Maffei. This artist is listed as an Italian sculptor working in the early 1900's. The sculpture depicts a beautiful sculptured Putto sitting on a rock work base, One hand holds the fountain. The fountain head is a half man/half wolf mythological face that has water flowing from its mouth. The Putto is washing his foot in the water. The sculpture can be adapted to be used as a lamp. The fountain has a hole drilled thru the center, and the column to the right of the Putto is removable making it easy for adaption to lighting. Weight 20 lbs. Rare and unusual very high quality and lifelike Orientalist sculptured and painted Terracotta head. The head depicts a bearded Orientalist man with a turban. From the bottom of his neck to the top of his headpiece he measures 12 inches. From the tip of his nose to the back of his head he measures 9 inches. The head is life-size. The back has a hanging metal ring allowing it to be hung on a wall. It hangs flush against the wall and actually looks alive. It has a few minor chips on the back where it meets the wall, unseen when it is hung on the wall. This is a rare item dating circa 1900. Beautiful antique circa 1900 carved wood cherub wall shelf. It has two eyes at the back with a wire connected enabling the new owner to hang it on the wall and place a sculpture, vase or anything they like on the shelf. The cherub has a beautiful happy face and is extremely well carved. In his left hand he supports the shell shaped wall shelf, the other portion is secured by his head. The cherub has beautifully carved wings and is in overall excellent condition with the exception of the very tip of the top right wing having a miniscule loss and the cherub's left foot missing it's big toe. We have taken good pictures enabling you to click and enlarge any picture to se detail and composition of this unusual hanging wall shelf. This looks like the style referred to as Italian Fantasy Furniture but it may be German or Austrian. Widest width at the top of the shelf is 11 inches. Exquisite pair of antique Paris porcelain extremely decorative and beautiful vases. The vases have Putto fully sculptured handles. The Putto are standing on a beautifully sculptured lady's head. The vases are further enhanced with 2 scenes, 1 depicting cherubs as musicians and the other 1 depicting cherubs as painters. The one depicting cherubs as painters has 3 cherubs, 2 painting and 1 modeling. The other vases have a circumference of 26 inches. These are beautiful museum quality vases. Each vase has a blue lozenge maker's mark on the bottom that reads HA&Cie. They're also marked by the retailer in New York Princeton Brothers Brooklyn who imported and sold this pair. For the most part the vases are in excellent condition showing some paint loss to the gilding along the bottom border and neck of the vases. The painted cherubs are beautifully hand painted with lovely colors. This is an extraordinary Paris porcelain pair of antique vases with a magnificent design and superb color combination. Beautiful antique high relief sculptured gilt iron shield with a horned mythological lion like high relief sculptured head at the very bottom. On either side are 2 seated figures one looks like an angel the other looks like Father Time. The central portion has battling warriors on horseback with shields, spears, and swords. Rare and wonderful sculpture by E. HEBERT The Alchemist. This is a beautiful 19th century bronzed white zinc sculpture by Edmond Ernest Hebert born 1824. Hebert created very unusual and interesting sculptures. This is the finest example of an alchemist I have had the pleasure to see. It depicts the alchemist intent with his work using his eye magnification to study the effects of his chemical engineering. As he stokes the flames to heat his experiment. His right foot is pumping the bellows forcing air to increase the heat of the flame. The top of the bellows have a carved incised bat. The sculpture is mounted in a polished variegated beige and sand colored marble base. Weight 25 lbs. Height of the sculpture not including the base 13-1/2 inches. With the base it measures 14 inches. The base is 14 inches long and a little more than 7 inches deep. This is a very rare sculpture guaranteed to please as are all our items.
