Pair of antique English sterling silver Edward VII hallmarked silver high relief sculptured lady's hairbrushes made in 1904 in Birmingham England. The brushes come in their original fitted 100+ year old case and are in excellent condition, with no dents or monograms. The handles are beautifully high relief sculptured with foliate and flower designs and a cartouche in the center, top and bottom of each handle. They also have their original receipt from London when they were purchased from an antique dealer in 1985 for 124 pounds including vat. The brushes measure 9 inches long and 3 inches wide. Including the bristles they weigh 176.7 grams, 5.68 troy ounces. The sterling silver brushes are beautifully made and reflect the high quality and design of items made during the Art Nouveau era. The markings on this one are JH&Co, with a walking lion, a panther head, and the date letter P. It has a letter B incised on the underside and has its original cobalt blue liner. The other 4 salt cellars are marked JH&Co, with a walking lion, a panther head and the date letter P. The 4 urn shaped open salts have the same markings, one is missing the cobalt liner. They are all in excellent condition and have a gilt lined top under the cobalt blue glass liner. This is a rare set that will surely satisfy any English silver collector. The associated fitted case is leather on the outside and purple velvet on the inside with purple silk on the inside top. The top of the silk reads BY APPOINTMENT in gold against the purple silk with a royal crest of lion and a unicorn HEMING & CO 28 CONDUIT ST LONDON W. The fitted case has 2 spaces where pepper shakers may have been at one time, they are no longer in the case. With this set are 4 matching salt spoons with maker's marks MH, 925, star, a walking lion, and date letter a. With the four matching salt spoons, there are 5 associated salt spoons with various marks, we are including them for free with the salt cellars. The 5 additional spoons measure from 3 inches long to 2-1/2 inches long. They have various markings and are not a matched set. We are including them for free. Wonderful set of excellent pre-owned condition 8 Georgian silver tablespoons. The spoons bare the maker's marks of Richard Crossley and George Smith, London with a date letter 1807-08. The maker's marks, date marks, and all the markings are very clear and easy to read. The table spoons measure 8-5/8 inches from the point of he bowl to the very back of the handle. The spoon bowl measures 1-3/4 inches wide at its widest point. They have a coat of arms at the top of a walking lion carrying an axe, above that is a motto. The spoons have a combined weight of 19 troy ounces. Sets of early Georgian silvertable spoons like this are almost impossible to find today.
