72004: English Sterling Silver Medalic Wine Taster - $196.00 English Sterling Silver hallmarked wine taster. The handle is a stylized snake. It has English hallmarks on the side (please see picture). In the center is an inset medal of King Edward VIII. The back of the medal reads "ASCENDED THE THRONE JAN. 20TH 1936 ABDICATED DEC 10TH 1936". The taster has a couple minor dings, other than that it is in excellent condition. Weight 109.7 grams (well over 3 troy ounces). From the snake handle to the lip of the taster it measures 4-3/8 inches, width is of 3-1/2 inches, height 1-1/4 inches. It has a carnelian agate set on the top of the box. When you slide the agate towards you the lipstick holder comes out, and by pulling the agate towards you the top of the compact springs open revealing a mirror and the contents of the compact box. The compact measures 3-1/4 inches long, 2-1/4 inches wide, and 1-1/8 inches high from the top of the carnelian agate to the bottom of the lipstick holder.
