Rare antique gilt metal and enamel fancy compact. The unusual octagonal shape of this compact is very rare. It has beautiful black, green and gold enamel on the front and back of the compact. When you press the center button to open it, you see 3 compartments. One has a mirrored door, when opened it has little drawings of cats on the inside and a large area for storage. The larger of the other 2 compartments opens to reveal 2 more compartments. The other door when opened has a powder box area and a small powder puff with a pink ribbon, very sweet. The compact opens and closes perfectly it is in excellent condition. From the bottom of the compact to its flat top not including the rings, it measures 3-1/4 inches high. If you lay the compact flat on a table and measures it measures 1-1/2 inches wide, and 1 inch high. It has a carrying strap and comes with a long black tassel attached by a ring to the bottom section of the compact. This tassel is removable and may be used with the compact or not, the choice is yours. Excellent condition guaranteed to please as are all our items.

Antique Circa 19th Century French Carved Wood & gilt Metal Rabbit Box. The underside of the box along the gilt metal section it is signed MOREAU or MORFAU. The top of the box has a carved running rabbit jumping over a log with carved flowers in the background. The box has a rococo design to it, ball feet and curved metal scroll corners. The box is more than 125 years old. It shows its age but is in overall very good condition. It will make a wonderful addition to any unusual antique box collection. Some losses to the wood veneer are noticeable under along the side of the box and in one area of the top of the box over the rabbit near the outer border.
